The avenue runs upward with the postture of the mountain like the soarings of great dragon and also hangs
like a jade belt with zigzag turns circling the hills.
Through Heaven-linking Avenue,one reaches directly the Tianti-celestial ladder.
The road takes you from 200 meters below to 1300 meters above sea level in the Hunan province of China. The highest point is 1300m (4.265 ft) above sea level, and the lowest point is 200m (656 ft)
The Road is also known as Big Gate Road.
The road which was started in 1998 and took 8 years to complete and is 10km from top to bottom, including the 99 hairpin turns.
Come to think of it, maybe next year’s Shanghai Formula 1 race should be held here.
If the road is a little too scary for you, there is an alternative. A cable car goes from of Zhangjiajie City to the top of Tianmen Mountain. Sounds like out of the frying pan and in to the fire – the cableway is 7455 meters in length making it, so the Chinese claim, the longest in the world.
